Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 Uprising DLC Review

Mob of the Dead9
Uprising is the second DLC drop from Treyarch for their latest game – Black Ops 2. Uprising features four new multiplayer maps and a new zombies map: Mob of the Dead. The multiplayer maps are Encore, Magma, Vertigo, and Studio (A Hollywood remake of the fan favorite map Firing Range from Black Ops.) The maps Vertigo and Studio are on the smaller side, with Encore and Magma being a bit larger in size. In this new DLC, Treyarch silenced many complaints from fans about the maps being too large. These four maps are very chaotic and action-packed, even Encore and Magma. Treyarch went with a much more vivid color scheme in these new maps. You’ll either enjoy the visuals or be distracted by the colors on these new maps.
The maps are fun at times, and keep the game fresh. However, they don’t add anything new to the gameplay experience, and will eventually get old. Studio brings back memories from Firing Range, but it isn’t nearly the same experience. After playing these maps for a solid day, I personally feel like these maps don’t flow that well; flanks, choke points, spawns, etc. Bottom line: these maps might have been good in previous COD games, but they don’t fit the hectic gameplay of Black Ops 2. The four new multiplayer maps in this DLC get a 6.5 out of 10.
Mob of the Dead is the new Zombies map that is included in Uprising. This new Zombies experience takes place at the world famous Alcatraz prison in San Francisco. Mob of the Dead features new guns, perks, and easter eggs. There are also certain guns and perks returning in this DLC. Treyarch advertised Mob of the Dead as the most terrifying zombies experience yet, and it certainly isn’t full of lollipops and rainbows. Mob of the Dead is both terrifying, and massively fun at the same time. Mob of the Dead gets a 9/10.
If you like zombies, I’d recommend buying Uprising. However, if you’re not into zombies this DLC doesn’t have much to offer, since there is no new gun DLC or game modes. Overall, Uprising gets a 7.7/10.
