Xbox Live Dashboard Beta Pictures and info

Xbox Live Dashboard Beta Pictures and info

Some of our readers are emailing us that the Xbox Live Dashboard Beta that we reported on yesterday is now live. One of the readers who wants to remain anonymous, was kind enough to send in pictures of the beta. They mentioned that dashboard navigation feels faster. The Zune section has been rebranded to the Xbox Music section which looks like a beta of its own. There’s also a new dedicated fitness section where you can input your health records like weight and height. More tiles are also are viewable than before in a single section and Internet Explorer 9 is now available. Apparently it can only feature one tab currently but you can set sites as favorite for quick access from your dashboard. There’s also HTML5 video support so you can view Youtube videos straight from the browser. We’re not sure how far spread this beta is currently, we’ve signed up but we haven’t been able to update yet.

Luis Alamilla is a Nintendo gamer at heart. His first game system was the Nintendo 64 that his parents bought him back in 1999 that he continues to play now. His favorite game series is the Kingdom Hearts series. He loves Super Smash Brothers (as it was his first game as well) and loves to throw down some brawl matches here and there.

And I thought that the Metro interface would be an upgrade…
      How wrong I was.

    ‘Send browsing history to microsoft…’

That’s extremely suspicious. I bet the console will send your history whether you tick that box or not.

Any web browser on a computer will have the same option.

I’ve been using the beta since two days and I can say this: Finally a console with a good browser!
This is still based on IE9 though but even has YouTube working directly (makes me wonder if the separate app will be removed or more integrated, just as a few other ones that are now browser accessible). It definitely beats the PS3 and Wii in speed and usability.
I hope the next version (IE10 with built in flash support as in Windows 8) makes it to the Xbox 360 as well, then it will finally be the ultimate STB and console in one.

I love when kids get in these betas and completely ignore the NDA they agreed to. Human CentiPad!

or I can use my laptop to web browse instead of my GAMING console.

At this point im using my Xbox for Netflix and Vudu rather than games anyway. It has finally met the whole “360″ promise, and I think it is the best media system you can buy.

Does the browser have flash, so I can watch Youtube on it. The Youtube app on Xbox is crap.

You’ll be able to watch youtube videos with in IE9.
